Same Problem!! After 6.0.2 update my iPhone 5 keeps heating and the battery drains in less thatn 5 hours without using the phone.

Each time you notice high battery usage, run it completely empty and then fully charge it. See if this fixes your problem, as IT SEEMS TO WORK HERE!

I wonder if the real problem is poor instructions by Apple on how to break in a new battery. They say plug the first boot up into itunes and set it up. Then once per month, make sure to cycle to zero and 100%. Otherwise, it's OK to do partial recharges each day.

I suspect this is wrong for all new batteries. They probably ought to be cycled through zero over and over again until they perform at the optimum, and then it would be ok to do partial recharges with monthly zero cycles.

This is what we're supposed to get: Power and Battery4    Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery    Charging via USB to computer system or power adapter    Talk time: Up to 8 hours on 3G    Standby time: Up to 225 hours    Internet use: Up to 8 hours on 3G, up to 8 hours on LTE, up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi    Video playback: Up to 10 hours    Audio playback: Up to 40 hours

Before the 2nd zero cycle, I went from 83% to 16% by watching a movie for 5 hours. That's about 6 hours of movies for 100% charge.

After my 2nd zero cycle, I now have the normal expected performance. It sat on standby for 5 hours and maintained 100% all that time. Now, I've started watching a movie and after 45 minutes, it still has 95%.

So, give this a try if you're still having problems. I hope it works for you too.

I did this last night and the problem is now much worse. I've been using my iPhone for about an hour for 1 email check and a couple texts, and it's showing 87%! It's just awful. And I'm on vacation now, with light usage. This *****.

Please forgive my poor language. I meant to emphasize that it took a 2nd cycle through zero (dead) battery to get the desired results here. It did not work after the first.

So, keep trying if you want to see it it will help you too. In fact, do it a 3rd or 4th or 5th time to see if the battery can ever be restored to a normal state. You might get lucky like me.

Same here too my phone just drained about 20% with 7 minutes usage and 2 Hrs Standby.

With the old 6.0.1 firmware I was receiving 2Hrs usage with only 20% battery drain.

I don't think this is confined to 6.0.2.  I haven't upgraded from 6.0.1 yet, and a few days ago my battery life went from fantastic to terrible literally overnight.  And I keep Bluetooth turned off and never run wifi!  Could this be a change to the LTE network that's sucking the battery dry even in a standby state?  I can't think of anything else that might be causing it????  Very frustrating to go to bed with 100% on the battery and wake up with 60%  :-(

I updated my phone a couple of days ago and noticed a huge drop right away. I was wondering what was going on! I just came across this article as I googled battery problems with iOS update. I really had no idea that anyone else was experiencing the same thing. I guess I am glad though because maybe something will be done now that the complaints are numerous.

My iPhone 5 has been on for 4 hours and I am currently at 62% with hardly any usage. Normally it would be around 90% at this time. (I don't use it that much.) This is a significant drop without any changes being made other than the update to it.

    Please, Apple, fix this!!

I loved my 4S and my 5 even more until the update to 6.0.2!  I use my phone all day at work, normal usage and have 70% after a 12 hour shift.  It has been off the charger for 6 hours and I'm down to 61% with minimal usage.  I have had to use an airave in my home for years to have decent reception, on the Sprint network.  My 4S worked fine and the 5 worked fine before update.  I cannot connect to airave any longer and lose connection all over my home.  I have reset my wifi, my airave and forgot my network and rejoined to see if this would fix the problem, no such luck! Very disappointed!  Hopefully Apple is taking this seriouosly.  I would really like to go back to prior software because I did not notice any problems with any of the wifi connections I had been using.

All.....I took the advice of Apple Tech yesterday.  I connected my phone to iTunes, backed it up to the computer, and then initiated a restore from iTunes.  I also followed the advice of another poster in that I powered my phone completely down and restarted it.  So far I am still at 100% after a full charge....3.5 hours standby, of course.  But much better then right after 6.0.1 was dropping about 5% an hour in standby.  Hope this works for others.

    Sorry....better after 6.0.2

  • ozburn71 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Extremely aggravated with this. My battery would fully last me through the day and now I can't even make it to lunch without a recharge. There is nothing different with my phone, except the update to iOS 6.0.2. I can't walk around with my phone sitting on the charger all day. I need to use my phone. Obviously I'm not alone in this matter.

the phone worked fine until the last update, now heated and the battery runs out very quickly, not just the day. I'd go back to 6.0.1 or fast please update this bug. as I work with the phone.

me compre un iphone por el servicio tecnico y lo bien que funcionan con respecto a otras marcas , espero que no tenga que cambiar de opinion ya que es un telefono que precisamente no es barato.

How did you go back to 6.0.1, my phone was perfect with that firmware, and since the 6.0.2 upgrade it get hot and burns batteries like crazy

I am having the same problem.  Before update my battery life was excellent. Now it's horrible.  Can't make through the day if I have any phone calls.  Uh, it's a phone.  Hope there's a fix soon.
