Live Performances with Logic...or not

Hey everybody, Im running logic 7.2 on a powermac G4, and I'm using a onyx analog firewire mixer. Now the question is, can you put on a live show, using the eqs and plug ins on live audio music without that slight output delay. If not is there a certain software you guys would reccomend. Or is all new hardware recommended for this task.

But the music you can create with a computer is so different sonically, that you cannot re-create this effect using a live band.
As well rehearsing 5-8 musicians can be a nighmare. With a computer and two people you can create a 'bigger' sound than any band could ever dream to create.
So this is why using a computer live is so enticing.
Is it worth the risk?
Well, hopefully Logic is constantly trying to make the system more stable and reliable to help all of us use these wonderful tools live.
That remains to be seen???
Thanks for all the great input.

It has two screen modes. One is pretty much like the arange window in Logic in which you record your midi and audio. But the magic happens in the "Clip's" window. This window allows you to have lot's of loops from your songs or any kind of breakbeats, acapellas, etc... Each "clip" has a play button that when pressed will play the loop matching the global tempo, so you can mix everything back to back, for as long as you want wiyhout time limitations. It gives you the oportunity to create arrangements on the fly so every performance is unique, not a sequence that was planned. Go to the ABLETON site and check it for yourself.

P.S. I forgot to mention you can have Plug ins running as in any D.A.W. ,plus it comes with some cool plug-ins.

No one else has mentioned it, and the man himself doesn't seem to be lurking here anymore, but Thomas Dolby puts on one heck of a live show using Logic and a G5. It's pretty incredible. I saw him when he was here in Minneapolis and was amazed. He actually did experience one snafu related to some transposing problem in a song file he was using. So what did he do, he laughed about it, rebooted and the show went on. You can check it out in action at http://www.thomasdolby.com . I think he may even have some info about what he uses up there.

why is live the abelton live a better and more
reliable software fore live performance?

For standard triggering midi patterns, or audio clips, Live is a great program. However, Live can't change time signatures. This is a huge failure in my opinion. 90% of the stuff I write has a meter changes, so it's bordline worthless.

What Live doesn't have:

-meter changing
-groove templates (another huge issue)
-enviornment-esque feature for very flexible midi routing.
-using Logic VI's from within Live (on the same machine) is a bit tricky (but possible).

What Live does have:

-very nice user interface.
-seems to be fairly robust
-great for triggering loops (or multiple loops) via midi
-great sketch pad for generating ideas very quickly
-can use apple loops as clips

Note: Logic has Touch Tracks that might be useful for triggering midi loops.
