I have a MAUSB-10 card reader and my MBP doesn't see it. It's usb and was plugged into my xp box, but I'm trying to switch everything over to mac and this is a major stumbling block. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can get the MBP to see the reader..... cmd line force? anything!?!
I bought a $10 card reader from CompUSA that reads SD cards. It works great on all my Macs, including the MBP. You can try going to the mfg. site and downloading drivers the latest drivers for the card reader. Some mfg. have drivers for Macs and some don't. I have a Lexar CF reader I have to regularly download drivers for to keep working
I have the same problem. Just upgraded to iMac with Tiger and my Olympus MAUSB-10 fails to read any of my Fuji xD-Picture cards (256MB, 16MB, 16MB). This is after I installed the driver update. It worked just fine in OS 10.3.9. Am I just going to have to get a new card reader?
your mac will not "see" a reader, it will mount a memory card that is inserted in the reader as a hard drive on your desktop, make sure the card is in the reader correctly, then plug it in the USB port
To use more precise language, my mac does not "mount" the xD card when it is inserted into the Olympus MAUSB-10 reader. The system profiler does recognize that the reader is attached to the USB port.
The problem is the MAUSB-10 reader. I bought a SanDisk 12-in-1 reader that worked just fine.
I just tried a Sandisk USB 2.0 Card Reader/Writer for Sony style memory stick. Model SDDR-170-A10M. My 15" MacBook Pro will not mount the memory stick on the desktop. I have a support e-mail into Sandisk, but I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make this work in the meantime?
I am seeing no Apple Mac OSX specific drivers. The device did come with a Windows driver software mini-cd-disc. Which I beleive I couldn't use on my internal CD drive anyway.
Any thoughts out there would be much appreciated!
BTW an SIIG, Inc. ExpressCard 11-in-1 R/W card does work! I just thought the Sandisk "thumb-drive" style R/W device would be a more universal way to work between computers.
My dedicated sandisk USB2 Flash reader does not work either. I looked on some packaging in the retail store and sure enough all were XP compatible but not all OSX. I now use the lexar firewire, and it works very well.
