If anyone has a feedback from WhatsApp or Apple (would be interesting to hear from them, but they don't seem to pay attention to owners of 3 y-o phones, which is a pity since they are potentially customers in a shortening near future)...

The feedback from Whatsapp has been posted on this thread and others in this section.

So FelipeV would just go out and buy a new Mac??

Well this does not happen, older software continues to run on older machines. Simple.

You really are missing the point, he is not saying it is Apple's fault. Where Apple's involvement lies is that it was purchased via Apple.

Apple is involved as a store, not a phone manufacturer.

If my business depended on it and I wanted the latest version, yes. Again, you are missing the point as you seem to be unaware (or do not want to accept the fact), that the developer is to blame here. I will not go on to restate what has been restated to death here over and over, in order to disprove your baseless argument.

    Totally agree with you.

I really like Apple phones but this kind of experience have just blown my mind...

Felipe, Whatsapp was blamed in the posts.

    I blame Whatsapp.

But, feel free to quote me and say Apple is not fault, that Whatsapp is.....

I'd be totally fine if case was that Whatsapp updated their app with new functionality and did not support older devices. Now however, an app working totally fine suddenly stopped working for whatever reason, and that kind of ****** me off.

Thanks Felipe, I can read... What I meant was: if anyone has other helpful information from WhatsApp or Apple, especially to know wether or not they are going to actually DO something rather than undo what they built for the past few years, it would be nice to have it here...

As for this part of WhatsApp answer :

<< Regretfully, Apple does not allow new app updates to be compatible with both iOS 6 and older versions of iOS, effectively ending support for iPhone 3G and the original iPhone. Because of Apple's policy change to new App Store submissions, there is nothing we can do at this time for users with older versions of iOS. >>

I think it simply shows Apple's implication in this problem. WhatsApp new version can be compatible with new AND old versions of iOS. Apple induces planned obsolescence through its AppStore, and I do not support at all this kind of policy choices.

Where is the good old "THINK DIFFERENT!" now... ?

They could create two apps, one for older versions of iOS and one for newer iOS. Spotify do it (at least on the UK AppStore), they have Spotify for iOS4 and Spotify (for iOS 5+)

Are these Giants of company's trustworthy? If they can decide what You need (WhatsApp or not WhatsApp) whithout respect off there one iPhone3G users how made them big? Can these users make them SMALL?? Yes WE CAN

What will be the next thing? Folks make up your mind This was the last Succes full year of Apple every next year will be smaller. This is the common price of arrogance!! People whit newer devices have be warnd for the behavior of these giants (Apple and WhatsApp).

For those considering to change to Android ... Beware that 2013 will bring more Malware!

I' m ot happy with what is happening with whathsapp & co, but cellphones have a short live.

Thatis what I blame Apple for having too expensive phones without a memory card.

Next will be my ipad1 I suppose :-(

Will look for an iphone 4 or 4S, 5 to expensive :-(

I have the same problem. I cannout use Whatsapp on my 3G and yes I paid for the apps. It kept on asking for verification code, then I need to update my iOS which of course I could not with 3G. I will give this iPhone 3G to my dog and I am going to buy an Android.

I had the same problem, and some minutes ago everything got back to normal, I´m using whatsapp again in my iPhone 3g iOS 4.2.1

Tenía el mismo problema, no podía usuar whatsapp por la mañana y hace unos minutos todo volvió a la normalidad, no sé que fue lo que pasó, simplemente comenzó a trabajar de manera normal en mi iPhone 3G iOS 4.2.1

    Works now for me too.

Hopefully someone at Whatsapp saw sense.
