whatsapp not working on iphone 3G

I am using whatsapp on iphone 3G since one year. Today i couldnt log on to whatsapp, it says the new version cannot support my iOS and is asking me to update the same. However iOS 4.3 can not be updated on iphone 3G. This means i can not use whatsapp on my iphone 3G anymore. Any solutions?

I actually think we need to speak to someone higher up the hierarchy from whatsapp, because even if Apple forced them not to release new versions of the software for iOS 4.2, our old app version was still supposed to work without the upgrade, the only problem is... whatsapp no longer sends activation codes to users that have older app versions. this means the actual problem is with them... I mean, you can stop the support and new versions for an app on a certain iOS version, but you shouldn't stop the users from running the older versions compatible with their device(s) especially since they were running just fine

well this is just another reason to add to the growing list of reasons not to buy apple anymore. This is clearly marketting... stop supporting older phones and force app developers to also drop all support so we have to buy new phones. Shame on you apple... hello HTC. Add to that i also wont have to agree to T and C's every 3 days, im sold.

cheerio apple.

Really... You can't blame Apple for this! Apple has its faults but this is only a whatsapp decision.

What is changed is not the client (iOS) side, but the server side! They simply refuse our old phones. And before christmas everything worked perfectly!

There are a lot of ways to support our phones. They don't want to, and they blame Apple (in italy we say "It's like shooting to the Red Cross").

So..maybe with all this complaints Whatsapp will change its mind....maybe...or maybe not...

Their response is bull. What they mean is, "we can't figure out how to code our application so that it will run on both the old and new version of iOS".

I strongly suspect that the older versions of the app used the phones UDID to activate and track it.

This is now "illegal" under Apple's rules. Actually, Apple's decision to stop this practice was sparked by privacy concerns and a government inquiry. They have probably switched to an activation method that is not supported by 4.2.1 and earlier, and since it is now illegal (they could actually get into trouble with the law, not just Apple), they have cut off access.

It would certainly explain why this happened when and how it did.

Iv just read this - http://blog.whatsapp.com/index.php/2012/06/why-we-dont-sell-ads

The bottom got me

At WhatsApp, our engineers spend all their time fixing bugs, adding new features and ironing out all the little intricacies in our task of bringing rich, affordable, reliable messaging to every phone in the world. That’s our product and that’s our passion. Your data isn’t even in the picture. We are simply not interested in any of it.

Should have 'updating' and 'exluding iPhone 3G' in there somwhere.

Anyway..

This may help or be informal... I have access to my 'iOS files' theres a way in there that 'ahtasham' posted that enables it to work because its made to think its 4.3 when downloading any app update. So Whatsapp?

If they or someone could paste the T & C's on uploading apps as I have looked and I cart get on them as Apple only let devolopers view them....

Im on 4.1 on iphone 4 with alot of apps installed and settings

I have ahtasham to say a big thanks to - but Apple kindly removed his post...
