Eliminate Christmas music from playback in iTunes 11

When using iTunes 11, I want to eliminate my Christmas music from playing back when all songs are added to Upnext list. (with or without Shuffle turned on). Does anyone know how to do this?

I have a large collection of Christmas music. What I eventually did was create a seperate Library for the Christmas Music. It's worked out well. During the season, I just switch into the Christmas Library as needed.

Not sure about the dissapear form song list when unchecked. I can't get that result.

As to adding selection to upnext, I believe its right-click or control click and select add to up next. Or good old drag and drop selection onto the up next list in the right side of the status panel. (top center of itunes)

I'll keep an eye out of dissapearing files...... they'll probably turn up with all the missing soxs 😉

The process for switching between Libraries is relatively simple. The only thing that would make it easier would be the ability to switch libraries from the File/Library Menu vs quitting/reopening iTunes.

My personel opinion is that it makes for a cleaner simpler Library. I have at the moment 1,600 items, 3.8 days, 9 GB of Christmas songs. This may not be a lot depending on who's standards you go by, but having a seperate Library for that many songs, you only use a few weeks out of the year, is the way to go.

Hello Joe Gramm,

It's almost Christmas again, and I'm ready for my Christmas music! I saved your instructions from last year. It was SO easy to just open the Christmas Library and vòile...there was my music!!

Thanks for your helpful and easy to understand instructions from last year. Have a good Thanksgiving and a wonderful Christmas!

I have about 9 gb of christmas music in an outside folder on my hard drive. I would like to incorporate it into my itunes music (about 150gb) for the season so that it will play when I want to hear it and randomly, however, I want to be able to move it back out of my itunes in January and save it again for next year. There has to be an easier way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, it is sorted by genre. I have it all on an external hard drive along with my other music just in a different file. If i include it as a folder, I can't get it out in January. It is a pain to do that. It won't delete it out of my folders when I need them gone. I listen to music all of the time randomly and can not figure out how to easily do this. It just seems like there should be an easy way to do this. I want it to be randomly played along with my other music, I don't really want to listen to all xmas music all of the time. Thanks for your help.
