I am am still finding a channel to inform Apple of this issue.

Have created a bug and uploaded loads of information.

Discussed with geniuses( not at all geniuses ) in genius bar. If they are going to just change the logic board. Who is going to report to apple about this issue.

Somehow it should be channelled i dont know how at his moment. But really frustrated. Spoke to Executives on the phone too. she said apple does not know about the issue. but she does not know how apple will now about it as i dont remember anyone taking down from me the pictures of my mac iisue. or any logs as such untill i files a software bug on osx.

Really crazy situation.

Hello Apple,

I would just like to report I am now starting to experience the same known issues that other have reported. This is my third Macbook Pro and all in all I have spent over $12000 buying Apple computers. My last Macbook pro died after 3 years because of a known issue and now my new one is starting to die after only 2 years.

This GPU issue with the Early 2011 Macbook pros is growing everyday with more and more reports and I only hope the biggest and richest company in the world will man up and start to offer a free fix like you did for the owners of the Imac.

My business relies on Apple products and Apple Computers as I am a video editor however I really do not want to spend money to fix this issue when I did nothing wrong but just use my computer for my business. I would think with any high end $4000 computer I should be able to at least get a full 3 or more years out of a computer without having to replace it. However it seems that the more popular your company is getting and the hire demand for manufacturing the more quality control your company is losing. I do enjoy your product and hope we will see Apple offering a free fix for this issue in the very near future.

Thanks

Same problem for me too.

Macbook Pro 15 Early-2011

SN: ends with F91

AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB Graphics

Manifests as red-horizontal lines at boot. Once OSX attempts to do something with the AMD GPU the screen goes gray and nothing else happens.

Using the CMD-S and root commands shown here: http://www.mactrast.com/2013/10/owners-early-2011-macbook-pro/

I was able to get far enough to log in and get a TimeMachine back-up. I did this though while the screen was still having some odd lines and then a sync issue where the screen is moved to the right six inches and then over-writes and reappears on the left of the screen.

I am not interested in buying a new $2800US current generation Macbook Pro after this $3000US machine failed after less than three years.

I am also not looking forward to being told that I am out of warranty, there isn't an acknowledgement of the issue and an agreement by Apple to fix it, and that I'll need a new-to-me logic board that is likely a refurbished unit for between $500-$1000US that only gets 90-day warranty too.

Apple please stand by your products.

After calling twice AppleCare and visiting 2 different AppleStore in Paris explaining this problem with my MacBookpro 2011.....Apple asked me to go to an Apple service center and they have replaced the logicboard.....for FREE !!

Some other French customers here got the same from Apple, even outisde warranty period they took the decision to change the failling component for free. In my case, it's the third time we are replacing the logicboard because of the problem, if after 5years after the purchase it happends more than 3 times, Applecare told me they will replace the machine itself not just the logicboard....

So try and try and it could work !

Regards from Paris

Looks like I'm in the same boat. 2 Days ago my MBP 17 early 2011 freezed, and can now only boot to bluescreen (pure or pinstriped).

This is my first Mac, and at the price of +4100 EUR I'm reality disappointed, that it couldn't last just 3 years. It's not even an everyday workhorse. Surely there is some kind of design or specfault involved.

Add me to the list of disappointed customers.

I've been having this issue since June, 2013. And the issue has been getting progressively worse. I have had the EXACT same issue as the original poster.

I've been to the Genius Bar three times since August, each time the diagnostics return no errors with the hardware. Thinking, again, that it could be software related, the last visit to the Genius Bar resulted in yet another complete wipe and install of Mavericks (this was the third time). However, instead of performing a Time Machine restore, this time, I started fresh - all new app downloads (latest versions), rebuilding iTunes libraries, etc. I did not install any third party apps such as DockView or gfxCardStatus this time, except Google Earth (notorious for its discreet graphics use).

So I received my wiped/freshly installed MBP (early 2011, of course), on Sunday afternoon... I spent the lesser part of the next 24 hours getting my laptop back to a usable state, I was essentially "up & running" 24 hours after I got my laptop back. After running Google Earth for a while, on Monday night, it hung with a white screen (THAT was new) and it took me an hour to successfully boot (after many attempts to safe boot or enter recovery mode). Same issue of the blue screen with vertical black pinstripes. I just hung my head in defeat.

Many hours have been lost trying to get this laptop to work the way a $2000US laptop should. I don't know how much more of this I can take - I am losing confidence in Apple products.

I had the same problem with my Macbook Pro early 2011. The screen was greenish and it won't boot. Apple said the logic board had to be replaced but it was too expensive for the age that the MBP (2011).

So I removed the Backcover and I initially wanted to "bake" the logicboard in the oven but since Apple uses special screws I could't remove it until I would have bought extra screwdrivers. So I took a hair dryer, put it on max. and began to heat the logicboard just from the backide mostly near the CPU and GPU for 7-10 minutes. The I boot up the Macbook Pro and I worked! The problem was that after I run the Hardware Test the prblem came back. After repeating the whole process serveral times my MBP works now without any problem. Even the Hardware Test and a GPU/CPU Stresstest passed.

Perheaps it is not the best solution but for me an owner without warranty it worked!
