My phone worked great for two years (4S) and I got behind on my updates for a while, but no issues. Updated to 6.1.3 two weeks ago and immediately the wi-fi greyed out and battery life dropped by half. Assumed it was a software issue so just now updated to IOS 7. No luck, still greyed out. Tried all the resets and still no wi-fi, but the BT works fine. Looked on the web and found this huge thread on the problem. I can't believe Apple hasn't done something. Will try the Apple store and ATT to see if I get anywhere. If I can't, I will change to different phone. There are 5 Apple phones / iPads in my family, and I will change them all.

Udated my i4s to iOS6.1.2 to iOS7.0.0 on 18.09.2013 , wifi works perfectly from june 2012 until 20.09.2013 in the morning.

Suddenly it's gone, impossible to move the wifi on/off button in settings, no more wifi

a) Tried this > http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559

Result = DOESN'T WORK

b) Tried this solution http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414,

I've tried everything also, for two weeks. Very Frustrated. Even tried freezing the phone, this actually worked for 5 minutes but then greyed out again. Multiple websites have suggested the hairdryer technique with success. This is amazing there should be a recall on this hardware problem, or free technical support from Apple. I don't want to switch everything either but will. Samsung seems to be the cutting edge for technology.

I've also been told it was a hardware problem but Apple will not swap out my phone. They suggested I get a new one but my contract isn't up until November with my cellular service. They also wanted to charge 30.00 for looking at it, but I said no and took my phone back and left. Maybe paying for two years service upgrade is the Answer if I continue to buy Apple products. Also had a problem after 1 year with my IPAD and had to fix that myself too at my expense.

I am finished with Apple. How many other companies charge you for tech support? Even BenQ had a a tech actually pick up the phone and help me after my projector was over a year old. Apple I'd going to have to stop taking their customers for granted with the rise of Android, and Windows phones. I already switched to Windows Phone 8 and I love it. I sold my iPad too. No more $40 proprietary adapters and best of all, no more iTunes.

Yes, this is brutal. As mentioned, I am never buying another Apple product again as a result of their anti-consumer marketing and sales strategies and lack of support unless you slip them some green. However, I would like to see a fix for this so that I can continue to use the device that i bought and paid for for its intended purpose, if only through WiFi. Following Apple's troubleshooting directions to reset my phone as new has caused me to lose all in app purchases including Hipstamatic (which I had literally bough and paid for all of the addon packs) and left me with no way to retrieve them.

Despite what some on this thread are stating, this coincides with a software issue and is not a hardware only issue. I paid for and own my 4S and should be able to wipe it and roll back to an earlier software version where this problem did not exist on this level. You can do this with any Android or Windows device or computer, and apple should be no different.

Govinz and all others having success:

Please post back how long your 'Blow dryer Heat' fix lasts (and again for the Xth 'Re-Heat' if needed :o/ ). It would be very helpful to know if some experience this fix lasting weeks or hopefully longer. I think I read in previous posts reporting back of 'the heat fix' lasting a few days. It is easy to forget the rest with the issue when yours seems cured, but if you can make a note to come back and report, it would give others a better idea of what to expect when they do 'the fix'.

Thank you
