Display a video from Amazon Instant Video app iPad to Appletv?

Why can't I display a video from my Amazon Instant Video app on my iPad to my Appletv? As soon as the movie starts the screen goes black and a message appears stating that "Watching videos with AirPlay or through HDMI is not supported with this app".
