My IPhone 5 won't hang up phone calls using the end button on the screen

I agree it is the Lifeproof case. I've had the problem since day 1 of owning the phone and had the Lifeproof case since day 1. Took it out of the case and BAM....works perfectly.

Going to try some of the solutions for setting the phone better in the case. The screen protector does seem to be loose on the bottom of screen. If I hold the screen protector down tight (or cover the light sensor) it works perfectly.

Same problem here, nothing but problems with this crap iphone 5, this is the second one as well. sad ill have to switch to another company i used to love apple 😟 happens only when not on speaker, cant shut this garbaage phone off. takes about 5 mins. cant will till my contracts up...

Did you read this whole thread? If you have a case with a screen cover, this is likely the culprit. Take it out of the case and try it before you get all angry.

Should have added that I don't have my iphone in a case *gasp*, and still have this issue.

I had this problem with my 3GS and it was not in a case either. My 5 has not done it when outside my LifeProof.

no pihmpdaddi it was not the case, all the replys to this thread said that this is still a problem without the case so i figured that was obvious by now.

not true...a good number of the replies have found success by removing the phone from the case, including me. Also, covering up the light sensor when hitting the "end" button has worked for others.

Actually, read more carefully and you'll see there's both those that have fixed the issue by removing the case or removing and reinstalling in the case, as well as those who have not had their issues solved by removing/changing their case.

For me, I complained to LifeProof, and they sent me a new case, the newer case was a slightly different design, but solved the problem for me.

So, yeah, if you were using a case it would be well worth the time it takes to try your phone without the case.

Hi, it seems to be the problem is mainly for those with the lifeproof case; although, in my case it happened with the last iOS software update to 7.1.1. My phone is iPhone 5c, which I purchased in March of this year, within two days of use it froze and it had to be replaced. I never purchased the lifeproof case, and now I noticed that if I am listening to music, either via Pandora or from my own music, if I receive a call, I can hang up ok because it goes back to my music. But if I am not listening to music it gets stuck, for instance I can hear myself on speaker but the other person is not on the line anymore. My take on this issue is that it is a software bug, that I hope with the new iOS software release it can be fixed.

I'm having the same issue with my 6s. No Lifewhatever case, no screen protector.

This is the ticket! This solves the problem for C J Pepper and Lifeproof case problems.

I've found this is worse with black cases than lighter colored ones, and suspect the lack of transparency of the case interferes with the sensor.

Kinda lame to do, but flipping open the charger plug is a viable work-around.

no lifecase here, same problem. also , kept ringing after power down. apple's not addressing issues.

Yeah!!!!!! This just saved me. I have to hit speaker then mute then end.
