Electric Shock feeling on entire computer

When my MBP is plugged in I get an electric vibration (mild shock) feeling. Sometimes, when typing, I will get a painful shock from just above the disk drive. This mild electric vibration occours simultainously with the hissing sound other users are hearing. I know im not out of my mind because when other people are touching my computer I can touch them and feel the same feeling. I can actually create a chain of a few people to recieve this sensation. I have enabled photobooth (as read in other forums) which stops it , but this does not seem like a solution but more of a quick fix. Does anyone know if apple plans on doing anything about this other than replacing computers (ie. software update?) because I have too much work to wait around on a replacement.

I have the same problem. I have always used the 3 prong plug to charge my battery while using the laptop. The mild tingy/shock feeling is focused mainly on my left wrist where I place my hand to type but not so much on the right hand. I sometimes play games for extended period of time (3-4 hours a day) and after couple hours the shock level inscreases which forces me to stop. At first I thought I was too sensitive to electrity shock. But I asked my friend who also own the old G4 Powerbook aluminum and she said same thing happens to her as well. Has anyone taken the machine back and fixed the problem? Btw, I had taken the machine back to replace the top casing because of a faulty power button. But now that I recall the tingly feeling persisted before I had the top case replaced. I suspect that this is a hardware power leaks.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

guys, it's been said here and in the other threads a few times (i started one of those myself, erm..):

the problem is electric circuits without proper grounding. and just having a three-prong outlet doesn't mean that the ground is connected, as i have experienced not even here in (south) western europe.

bottomline is:
if i connect at work - good ground - no buzz
at home , 3 prong outlet - buzz! - ergo: bad/no ground at home.

of course it's also there on battery with a powered fw/usb device connected, seems to somehow "reconnect" the mbpro to the circuit.

cheers

I just recieved my MBP 15" July 16, 07 and experienced the electrical shocks on my wrists immediately while typing and setting up new computer. It was painful. I have read many of the replys/threads to this problem and they are all similar to my experience. Should I return brand new Macbook Pro? Can it be fixed at Genius Bar or Apple Store. Has anyone been able to get this problem permanently fixed by Apple?
Also, does this also happen on th 13" Macbook, too? It has plastic case as I recall.
thx, Kathy

I get ittense electric shocks from my MBP when it is being charged by supply after three hours of functioning and then is impossible to work. This stops when the supply is unplugged and mac book works with the battery. I want to return this mac book and get a new one because I dont see how this problem will be fixed. Is possible to do that?/

You will fix the problem, if you:
- use the grounded 3-prong AC cable on the power adapter
- plug the power adapter in a PROPERLY grounded AC outlet

It is just that simple.

The power adapter places one-half of the line voltage onto the computer chassis ground, at a very low current. Although the shocks are annoying, it's not unsafe.

I use the 3-prong AC cable on the power adapter in a PROPERLY grounded AC outlet. For overseas operations, I have the proper country connection. still get shocks.

My husband uses his Dell Laptop from the same power source, without ANY shocks or electrical problems with his laptop.

Annoying?? Are you kidding me? I paid more than $3,000.00 for this machine and I am expected to consider this defect annoying? I've had to purchase a USB keyboard just so that I type on the thing.

AND lest I mention the battery blowing up...
....and the extremely hot temperatures from the machine
....and the hard drive that vibrates so loudly that it sounds like a truck
