Whatsapp last seen timestamp not working

Hey there,

I'm currently using an iPhone 3GS, and last night my Whatsapp timestamp stopped working, so I followed some guides online with these steps:

1. iPhone settings > General > Date & Time > Change date to 24 hours ahead

2. Go back to Whatsapp > Chat settings > Advanced > Turn last seen timestamp to OFF

3. Return to iPhone settings > General > Date & Time > Change date to a FURTHER 24 hours ahead

4. Go back to Whatsapp > Chat settings > Advanced > Turn last seen timestamp to ON

5. Return the iPhone date back to normal / current date.

The problem is that when I did the fourth step, my Whatsapp said it was "Updating" and was stuck on that, so then after quite some time I decided to restart the app, returned to Chat settings > Advanced > Last seen, it then showed it was OFF. I tried to turn it back on and it said "Could not connect to Whatsapp service. Please try again later."

Is anyone having similar issues and also does anyone know of a solution?
