I understand that it is in fact an extreme card. BUT, would it be Model # A1026, A1027 or ???
Thanks.

Like Duane says the 1GHz and
above models use Airport Extreme card. 700/800MHz
models use Airport (original) card. This page confirms that.

That's good
news as the brand new Airport Extreme cards are about
half the price of a second hand Airport cardUser uploaded file

I don't know of the differences - except for the fact that some Airport cards may have been produced for a country that's government limits the use of frequencies. (I believe the French military use some of the Airport frequencies so the French got their own (limited design) cards). You should buy from a reputable Apple dealer in your own country. Don't worry about the precise model number.

Hi D,
Those model #'s are found on the face of the extreme card just under where it says"Designed by Apple in California, assembled in Taiwan".
There is no M8881LL/A to be found on any of the cards, front or back but it is on the outside of the box with the model number right next to it. They look identical in every way except for the different model numbers.??????????
Thanks.

According to the Apple store, the AirPort Extreme
card part number is M8881LL/A.
I'm not sure what the part #s you list refer to.

There is only one AirPort Extreme card.

Where are you seeing these model #s?

Okay I've dug the box for mine out now and it says:

AIRPORT EXTREME-EUROPE
PART NO: M8881Z/A Model No. A1027
The box is dated 2002. An it bears a CE sticker with the phrase "This product has been approved for use in all EU countries. Apple declares that this product is in compliance with R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC."

Inside the box I found a slip of paper that reads:

- Australia - A1027
- Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein (where?), Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom - A1027
Brazil - A1026 - Loads of regulations....
Canada - A1026 - "Indoor use only"
France - A1028 - "Indoor use only"
France - A1027 - "Indoor use only" ... and more regulations
Italy - A1027 - Authorization req'd for outdoor use
US (inc Puerto Rico) - A1026 FCC ID: BCDA1026

There's a seperate French (4 pages!) leaflet which I can't really understand (my French is not so good!) but it lists Frequencies, Power levels and mentions about authorization being required.
