closed captions won't turn off
Using Apple TV and watching Netflix. Turned off closed captions in Settings, but they continue to appear. Is there a better way to turn off the closed captions?

Hi YelloSno80. I assume you've turned captions off in Settings. To turn them off while watching a program on Apple TV 4, swipe down, then left on the remote touchpad. This should display the Audio options, and you can swipe around to turn off captions.
I just had the same problem, but when I went to the Settings > Audio & Video, I saw that Subtitles was set to English. I opened that menu and was able to turn it to the 'off' position. Problem was solved for me. Give that a shot.
Actually, found the solution. For some reason, when using ATV, if the captions have been turned on (in Settings/Audio&Video...) and then turned off, Netlix films will still show closed captions. The captions have to be turned off in Netflix.
Here's how: While the Netlix video is playing, press and hold the 'select' button on the Apple remote (not, as noted elsewhere on this board, the menu button. The button to press and hold on the remote is the large silver button in the center of the click wheel.) A short menu will appear with two options: English or Off. Choose Off and the captions will disappear for the Netflix film you're watching.
NB: You may have to repeat this with each Netflix film until Netflix twigs to the fact that captions are off in the ATV settings.
Same here, but instead of this problem with Netflix, I having this problem with HULU on Apple TV4.
