I have a 4 gen Ipod that I want to update to IOS 6. It has 5.1.1 now. I have tried to load IOS 6 through Itunes, on the IPOD and using an Ethernet connection. Each time I get an error message that it has timed out. I have tried disabling the antivirus and loading after a reboot. Any other ideas? And yes, I have called Apple support :-)

LOL, they suggested turning off antivirus and a fresh reboot. Also trying with the ethernet connection. I am supposed to call them again since that did not work, but I thought I would try here first.
Call them again.
Update: A different connection solved the problem. However, not it will not charge with IOS 6. I have tried numerous ways, USB and wall chargers.I have also deleted Itunes and reinstalled Itunes. It is now totally out of battery and will not charge.
You have a hardware problem. Call Apple.
