Unable to use FaceTime and iMessage with my apple ID

Hi

I am currently experiencing an issue with my iPad (2nd generation) and iPhone 4S where the apple ID no longer works on the FaceTime and iMessage apps. It worked previously. However I turned off the apps and when I turned it back on try to setup it the apps using my apple ID it does not work anymore. My password is accurate but it keeps telling me that the password is incorrect for my apple ID (which is an email address)

Thanks for any assistance

I am trying to use my apple ID for iMessage, but it keeps saying username or password incorrect!

I use to send and receive iMessages through my apple ID instead of a phone number as I travel a lot. For the past few days, it suddenly switched to sending and receiving to my current number and not my email (my apple ID)

Do you think it's something to do with iMessage? And is this temporarily? I do not want to create a new apple ID

I had a similar problem, when I signed out of FaceTime I could not sign back in using same apple ID and password, in the end I had went on apple ID on the website , which said my password had expired !, I reset it , then went back to FaceTime and worked straight away, this solved my issue, hope this help others.

Hello

I am not sure if my password was expired as I got through with it on logging into iTunes Store. However I did get my FaceTime and iMessage to work eventually doing the following steps

1)set payment information to none :this way there is no credit card associated

2) login to with my apple id on the apple's website where I can edit information associated with my ID

3) removed all the phone numbers associated with my apple ID account

4) I was also trying to remove the address but this still kept my country ( Trinidad and Tobago) so I am not sure if it impacted positively

5) save all changes made to the account

In the end it allowed me to login using the apple ID (with same password) on both iPad and iPhone. My phone number was populated again on my apple ID account but this time it filled in different fields.

So it is a hit or miss. I hope this post is helpful. I am happy to get it to work on the devices. Never going to turn off these apps for sure.

Happy New Year everyone.

Glad to hear you got it resolved, My issue is similar but we are no where near solving it.

I live in Austria and bought an iPad mini for my mother in Trinidad. Before sending it to her I wanted to set it up so that all she needed to do would be turn on and get going.

Everything worked except facetime and imessage with her Apple ID, both of which work on her iPhone 4 without a problem.

A call to Apple support did not help - the guy kept on insisting I create a new apple ID for these apps even they already work with her iPhone 4 with her existing Apple ID. I sent it to her in the hope that the gepgraphic location of the iPad mini would somehow make it possible.

She has not gotten it but cannot activate facetime or imessage on her end.

This seems to be an obscure bug of some sort. I wish there would be a readily available fix so she doesnt have to create a separate ID for these apps.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there I had the same problem here in Trinidad and Tobago. What I did was sign in to appleid and change my address to the United States. Save and sign out. Then I signed in to facetime and got through. Apparently after updating to ios6 the ipad( facetime) does not recognize your I'd if you are from Trinidad and Tobago.

Hi

Just some questions to ask you

1) is there payment information associated with the apple id?

2) on the apple id account what is the country associated with it?

3)are there phone numbers also associated with the apple id?

I also do not believe in recreating a new id. There is a bug in the application.

Thank you
