Ipod 4g won't update

Everytime I tried to download the new ios for my ipod touch through itunes it timed out, so I downloaded it through direct download and tried to update my ipod 4g but its says ipod could not be updated an unknown error occured (3194).My ipod currently has ios version 5.1.1 and Ive tried putting both the 6 and 6.01 on it.I also tried downloading it directing on my ipod but it says error there too.
