Admin account managed, Profile Manager, Parental controls
Hello all,
I am getting ready to pull a little of my grey hair out. My question crosses so many lines, I just decided to place it here as it seems the most relevant. I apologize if its in the incorrect place
I have Mt Lion Server setup and working nicely on a Mac mini. I am also using profile manager to issuse things like wifi updates to clients and manage vpns etc etc etc.
I have 2 MacBooks with issues, both incidentally are running the special version of 10.8.2 for retina Macs. Both user's are also admin accounts on each machine and they show as managed w/ Parental contorl's. I am going to go out on a limb here and say thats because the server is managing them etc. It seems the most logical explination.
I can live with that they are managed. I mean why else use profile manager. Where the rub lies is that the Parental controls are enabled. I have created a new admin account and logged in and disabled the Parental controls but they always get re - enabled.
Honestly the only issue with Parental Controls is it disables dicatation. Is there a place in Profile manager I may be overlooking to fix this. I have looked and for the life of me cannot find a place for it. I have all groups setup properly and I have no parental contorls enabled on any profiles the affected user's are a member of. Has anyone seen this before ? I am tired of searching forums, and the 11 page thread here in the forums about controls being broken in 10.8.2 is a rather long read.
Also the thread about Profile Manager being broken in 2.2 is a little depressing. I Had that issue and had to preform a clean reinstall to overcome that issue. I hope this is also not related.
Any advice thoughts suggestions or what ever would be greatly appreciated. As I said the only real issue is that the dictaiton option is disabed for the users.
Cheers,
Tom
