Best way to transfer from my picasa pc to my new iphoto macbook air?

To transfer from my picasa pc to my new macbook air I simply copied the photos folder from the pc into the pictures folder on my mac. Iphoto then copied all the files into it's iphoto gallery, resulting in a iphotos gallery file 1gb smaller in size than the original pictures folder.

Did I do right or should I have exported everything from picasa? I think then I would have had to install picasa on the mac. I figured I would give Iphoto a try.

iPhoto '11, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

The reason i have to export from Picasa to my macbook is because only Picasa recognises and shows all the images that were saved on my macbook and time capsule! The pictures are all already on my mac but when i try to open them in iphoto i get a message that the file is unreadable. Yet in Picasa which i have had to download, i can see every picture. IPhoto crashed a few days ago and I lost 15 GB of photos.

Picasa seems to have found them all, but I would like to give iphoto another chance if I can just suss how to get them over into iphoto.

They're already *in* iPhoto.

Perhaps you should give a full description of your issue with iPhoto.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:

- What version of iPhoto.

- What version of the Operating System.

- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.

- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?

- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
