How do I watch my iTunes purchases (tv series & movies) on my Smart TV?

I have bought some tv series and movies from iTunes. I can watch them on my iMac and also on my iPad. The problem is we recently bought a smart tv and want to watch these programs on it. For some reason these are locked and I cannot do this. Is there a way that I can gain access to this? I do not have an Apple TV. I understand that this would allow me to do this.

I am not trying to do anything illegal I just want to watch my own purchases in my own home but not on my computer or my ipad.

If I cannot do this I will never buy tv series or movies from the itunes store again.

Hey, take it easy on olibear man. Not everyone is tech-savvy and besides, at least they had the decency to join a forum looking for help instead of just doing it illegally.

I agree that people should always do their homework before making purchases, but there's no need to call someone out or degrade them because they're expressing their frustration.

Let's all just try to help one another and not be mean. J/S

Hey, we all were ignorant to Apple's ridiculous rules at some point. For future reference, the easiest way to get your iPhone/iPad screen on your TV without being forced to buy Apple TV is to play the media on your laptop and plug an HDMI cable from your laptop to your TV. It's not wireless, but it works.

Also, I bought a set of cables from the Apple store years ago that have composite (red/white/yellow) plugs on one end and a 30-pin plug on the other end (for older iDevices). A year or two later, I got the component (red/white - red/blue/green) plugs on one end and a 30-pin plug on the other end (also for older iDevices) to get HD. Now they have HDMI adapters for both the older and newer iDevices. Look into those as a cheaper alternative to Apple TV. Both the composite and component cables have a charger spliced into the cables too.

Also, I still have an older vehicle that doesn't have Bluetooth or even an AUX jack to plug my old (otherwise useless) iPhone into and use as an iPod. I found an an adapter recently that has a 30-pin adapter on one end and on the other end it plugs into the factory wiring harness for my radio! They make adapters for everything nowadays. :-)
