Macbook Pro Battery

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if this is bad for my laptop/battery.

I sometimes keep the laptop in the charger at night when it is closed and fully charged, does this hurt the battery/macbook in any way or should i just cut the power off at night, and plug it back in when i start using it again ?

Does this keep the battery active at night, or doesn't it do anything at night when powered off ?

You don't need to connect the Mac to the power source when the battery is full because you are wasting energy. Also. When the battery is full, it stops charging and the MagSafe connector shows a green light

But it can't harm the battery/laptop if i keep it plugged into the power does it ?

I mostly use the laptop on my desk at the same place, so it would be handy that i can keep it plugged in when i'm working on my desk. I actually just plug it out to go somewhere, but that's kinda logical isn't it 😝.

I do sometimes forget that it is still in the power when i go to sleep, and i was wondering if it can harm the battery/laptop if it's still in the charger for the whole night. Or what it actually does when it is already full charged and shut down at night.

As i've read from your reply, it doesn't do anything at night when it's still plugged in and charged fully? Or am i getting it wrong.

Any tech info, tips?

The battery doesn't or shouldn't harm if you keep it plugged. When the battery is full, the MagSafe charger will show a green light instead of the orange light that it shows when the battery is charging.

I keep my MBP plugged into mains 90% of the time - I use an external monitor and this is my 'primary' setup. The battery will stop charging when it's reached capacity - and then there will be a slight discharge and it will power back up to it's full potential.

If you do keep your computer plugged into the wall as much as I do, remember to unplug it at least twice a month and let it drain down to 30-40% before plugging it back up. This will keep the ions flowing and keep your battery in good 'health'.
