Older copies of the iPad Facebook App?

This latest version of iPad Facebook does not work on iOS 5.1.1 It just crashes, and I can't upgrade the iOS of the original iPad. Anybody have previous releases of the Facebook App Stored somewhere?

The App staes it requires iOs 4.3 or later so it should work on 5.1.1. Try Resetting the iPad by holding down home and power buttons until rthe Apple Logo shows up. Ignore any sliders that may appear.

If that doesn't solve it. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Just remove it, and download it again.

Also try closing any apps from the recently used list so that nothing lese is running and see if it opens.

I feel like I am being the bearer of bad news to you once again regarding your iPad.

Once an app is updated in the App Store, there is nowhere from which you can download the older version of the app again. If you have the older version of the app in iTunes on your computer - you can delete the app from the iPad and sync the old version back to the device. Obviously, the only way that you would have the old version is if you just updated the app on the iPad and have not synced with iTunes yet.

If you just updated the app and you did sync with iTunes, you might be able to drag the old version out of the trash and reinstall it. You will have to delete the new version off of your iPad first.

I tried the latter option, and it didn't work. Thanks. And I've tried closing all Apps. Right now I'm in the midst of making sure photos I've loaded on my iPad are all on my computer, and manually deleting the photos by checking them after clicking on the share button and clicking the delete button. I wish there was a way to delete an entire album of iPad USB SD adapter loaded photos from an iPad. I need to free up some space on the iPad, and don't want to delete everything just yet. I wish there was some way to contact Facebook and ask them to make the old App available which didn't require so much free space.

Nope, deleting the App and reloading it didn't help. And yes I've reset the iPad no avail. Looks like I'll have to do what I really don't want to do and sync all my icons on the iPad desktop as bookmarks, and delete all the duplicates my iTunes music library on my computer and completely reload the iPad. Not exactly what I want to do, but short of that I can't eliminate a possible hardware issue.

Ok, so here another bearer of bad news... I made the mistake of updating my facebook app which was constantly freezing, and... the new one doesn't even launch, it crashes as soon as I click the icon.

So I plugged the ipad in itunes, installed the facebook app from my backup, and... same thing, crashes all over again.

I managed to find older versions of facebook... facebook 5.0.1 doesn't work, it crashes too. But 5.0 works, at least the version I found : http://turbobit.net/download/free/otpae8r5zm50# So now I'm stuck with an older version, but at least it loads and I can use it.

Good luck, I hope it works for you !

The app I put in my dropbox should help you, it was not linked to my ID, it was something I downloaded from the internet.

Sadly, I can't post it again or anything, since my flat was broken into and my macbook pro was stolen last week (as well as my iPad, iPod and macbook).

But really, you should try it, and try the method I suggested. It was working flawlessly for me and it even solved the problem I had with the app freezing all the time.

Arggh, that's too bad. How did you try to load it ? Putting it in iTunes didn't work for me, I had to put it into an app inside my iPad and open it from there.

And yeah, it *****, big time. Especially since I had a 17" quadcore 2.5ghz 16GB macbook pro and these are not sold anymore 😟

I'll try to explain a bit more, but it's hard since I lost the iPad and the computers and I don't really remember the apps name. There is no need to jailbreak your iPad !

You need to install an app which will enable you to browse through the contents of your iPad from your computer, but not from iTunes. I have the impression it was called iFiles, but I can't be sure.

Then, you need to download another app called Installous. And after that, from your computer and the iFiles app, you need to browse through your iPad, find the "downloaded" folder of the Installous app, but your facebook app inside it, open Installous in your iPad, go to the downloaded apps tab, and install it from here.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but it's hard to remember the names. Installous, I'm sure of this one, and iFiles, I'm almost sure but not 100%.

As I said, it's not illegal or anything, and there is absolutely no need to jailbreak your pad.

That's OK...I'll wait until Facebook updates the App. It isn't worth wasting my time with extra Apps which are surely going to eat extra memory on my machine and already seem to cause Apps to crash. I hope you reported the loss to the police. If you can get the serial number of the devices from your receipts or telling Apple how you paid for them, that might help as well.

I had all the serial numbers, the boxes, pictures of the stuff since I was doing some promotion for a sticker company, and I also had the original receipts. I'll be reimbursed fully by the insurance, but I lost some documents (it had been two weeks since I last saved it with timemachine), my music (it was also on the macbook and the macbook pro, but since both of them were stolen too, I don't have it anymore), and I can't get another macbook pro 17". So I'm not able to work with my Cintiq at the moment.

I hope facebook quickly releases another version of the app, it seems a bit scandalous that they are offering such a crappy app and not even trying to fix the problems.
