Apple Software Won't Install

Hello,

I noticed some error messages starting up iTunes recently (Ver. 11.0.1). The messages stated that some required components were missing and I should reinstall iTunes.

When reinstalling, the install fails. The same goes for any other Apple update that I try to install. Other non-Apple programs install or update just fine.User uploaded file

I have made sure all permissions have been repaired and I have checked to make sure of disc integrity.

Any suggestions to this problem would be appreciated!

Sadly, that was going to be my next solution... It seems iTunes has some corrupt files, and as a consequince, it will not let you fix it (thats irony for you.) I cant think of any other solutions at the time besides just going to the genious bar with the computer and explain the problem. If you choose to reinstall the OS, just back everything up and run the Recovery partition.

No Recovery partition in Snow. But could simply reinstall (not clean/install), which will give new system files, while preserving everything third party. Then must update back to !0.6.8, after which keep using Software Update to see what is needed, including Rosetta.

But before doing all that, I would see if applying or reapplying the 10.6.8 Combo fixes the iTunes issue. Then try the iTunes update again.

Best to do this update and any other major updates booted from Safe Boot (Shift down at startup and will need much longer to boot than usual.)

Also, iTunes alone could be reinstalled from the Install DVD using Pacifist.

See Kappy's directions for using.
