Apple Software Won't Install

Hello,

I noticed some error messages starting up iTunes recently (Ver. 11.0.1). The messages stated that some required components were missing and I should reinstall iTunes.

When reinstalling, the install fails. The same goes for any other Apple update that I try to install. Other non-Apple programs install or update just fine.User uploaded file

I have made sure all permissions have been repaired and I have checked to make sure of disc integrity.

Any suggestions to this problem would be appreciated!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Quite some time ago, I got the slap-on-the-hand email from Apple and part of my post was edited out - it was for a sentence which was at least as "innocent" as the one used here. The hosts had decided that it could be interpreted as asking for points (which I was not). Since then, I definitely avoid any reference at all to it, including having helped or anything remotely like it. Pointing that out to new users is helpful so they can avoid the embarrassment of getting the dreaded email.

I may have learned the hard way that one must be careful when attacked for offering a solution to the elimination of Rosetta by suggesting the installation of Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) into Parallels in Lion and now Mountain Lion.

There were a few, but vocal minority of users who were convinced by the Urban Myth that this suggested procedure was a violation of Apple's EULA for Snow Leopard. Some of my discussions with them on this topic were deleted by the moderators and of course, I was emailed about these deletions. I believe that you may have been involved peripherally in one or more of these posts.

I have subsequently learned the "proper" way to respond to these posts, in ways that do not offend the moderators. I also note that the educational process of debunking that Urban Myth has reduced the ranks of those who go out of their way to spread incorrect information to those looking for a way to use their PowerPC applications concurrently with Lion or Mountain Lion.
