I have the same question : How to change RSS feed ?

Before, I use iLife to create my video/audio podcast and upload to .Mac.
Now, i want to host my video/audio podcast on my own web hosting, using wordpress with PodPress plugins.

I read the instruction on Apple's website, it needs to edit the old RSS feed to redirect iTunes to new feed. How can i edit the feed which is generated by iWeb/.Mac ?

The instructions are:

You put this in your podcast's rss xml code right below the <channel> tag:

<itunes:new-feed-url> http://yourserver_here/your_new_feedhere</itunes:new-feed-url>

Now, you asked how to get at that .xml file. I don't use .mac, so this might not work. Look in your .mac folder for a file which ends with .xml. If you find it, download it and using a text editor like Tex-Edit, add the above code, save it, and put the file back.

The next time the iTMS updates, it will change to look for your feed in the new location.

If you cannot find it, then it's possible that .mac hides the .xml file somewhere, or perhaps it has .rss (?) at the end.

Hope this is helpful.

I have a variation on the problem: I moved servers and THEN updated my RSS to comply with Apple's new category standards, etc.

Now my feed from the Music Store isn't updating and the most recent episode of our video series is missing from the list, although previous episodes are streaming just fine, which means it must be connecting to our new server. When I try to subscribe, iTunes subscribes me and then sends an error stating "An unknown error occurred (400). Please be sure that the URL is correct," although if I Subscribe to our RSS under the Advanced dropdown, it finds the current version of the feed and downloads the new episode of our video series without a hitch.

I'll try the fix mentioned above, but if anyone has an alternate suggestion, let me know. Thanks!

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. The iTMS looks for your feed in the place where you told it to find it. If you move servers BEFORE you tell the iTMS about the change, the iTMS won't know where to look.

The best thing now is to contact the iTMS and ask them to make the change for you. Look here for the form at the bottom of the page:

Hope this answers your question.

... and they're still working on it.

They did tell me my feed was incorrectly formatted, though it had validated at Feedvalidator the day before. I double-checked and they were right (somehow the date properties were now incorrect), so I fixed them and re-checked.

No dice.

So I re-submitted a help request, twice now since then, and I'm somewhere in the virtual line for the help desk. I'll update if I learn anything else interesting.

Hmm. Maybe I'm not explaining things properly.

Originally, we'd had our feed successfuly available in iTunes for several months.

In the beginning of July, we switched web servers. In theory, this shouldn't have affected the iTunes feed because it's in the same place on the new server, just at a new location in the real world. The RSS is still identical.

However, I noticed last month that our feed was reporting an error when I tried to show someone one of our videos in iTunes.

I pasted our feed URL into several online validators and corrected all reported errors, including the new iTunes podcast categories I hadn't heard about until that moment. Then the feed validated.

However, the iTunes store is still reporting an 400: Unknown Error whenever I try to subscribe to our feed. It will still allow a user to download all earlier episodes of the video, but it isn't updating with new videos and won't allow a user to subscribe.

I've contacted the iTunes help department and they initially told me my feed was still invalid. Prior to emailing them, it had validated just fine. After receiving that message I re-checked and, sure enough, it wasn't validating in the validators they suggested checking it in. So I made the necessary corrections, and it still hasn't changed the status of the problems in the previous paragraph.

I re-emailed the iTunes support staff and they gave me the stock confirmation-of-receipt-of-email response, followed by the "We're sorry you're experiencing problems and we're looking into it" email. That was 6 days ago. I re-emailed them yesterday and got the same two responses (albeit from a different employee name) today.

So that's where I'm at.
