"Itunes could not backup iphone because an error occurred." Almost breaking my teeth with frustration. What are some more obscure fix suggestions?

I want to backup my 4S. Last was in November and I have things since that I don't want to lose (text messages, notes, appointments and contacts).

I have tried every. single. thing. apple. suggests. Scoured net looking for other suggestions. They don't work either.

Whatever I try, it runs a few steps then says "iTunes could not backup the iPhone because an error occurred"

Phone iOS 6.0.1

MacbookPro OS X 10.6.8

On phone:

Deleted all apps.

Deleted all music.

Even deleted all music on iTunes downloaded since last successful backup in case there was a corrupted song.

Macbook pro up to date.

iOS on phone up to date - updated it through wifi.
iTunes up to date.

Antivirus up to date.

Time/date both auto.

Reset computer.

Reset phone.

Used different cable (not that I think that would've done anything anyway)

Won't backup to iCloud.

Won't backup to another computer.

Won't let me encrypt backup (it wasn't previously)

Wiping it completely might help but as I said, I want the data from the last month!! If restoring must be done, is there any way I can retrieve the data?

May not want to wipe it but I tell you I'm ****** near ready to break it...

HELP. PLEASE!

Hi Guys,

I'm having the same problem as well i can't back up and my last back up was in 2012 december, however im afraid i might have to factory reset it but the only thing i m worried if i do the factory reset thinggy all my SMS since iphone 2 will be lost, as i m not sure if it will back up and if can managed to retrived it .

I need some suggestion on how i can save my SMS any ideas ? other than itunes or other software which i can transfer vice versa if i do the factory reset.

Look at the messages above, and the other threads in the "More like this" category near the top of the thread. A number of people identified the problem as a specific app that was causing the error. The most common app that has been mentioned is iZip; deleting this app resolved the problem for people who had this app installed. You can also try deleting other apps if you don't have this specific one.

Also, have you tried the other troubleshooting steps, like backing up to iCloud, trying different USB ports, trying WiFi backup, trying a different computer, and deleting the current backup on your computer?

I have tried everything. It has gotten to the point where almost nothing works on my 4S. Currently I am trying to update to iOS 7. Everything downloaded. It extracts the software. Then quits because it can't backup the iphone. I don't live anywhere near an Apple Store and all support says to do is restore. Well, I can't restore it. So what now? This is ridiculous. I mean a company with billions of dollars and access to every resource it could ever need can't help it's loyal customers?

I am getting ready to throw the iphone through a wall.

Some of us are not rich enough to buy a brand new iphone everytime one comes out.

Hi This is Musthak,

I had the same problem, so heres what i do, since my iphone 4s is 6.1.3 . just take a manual backup of all the files from your computer like songs, videos, apps ,etc from itunes media folder or just copy paste from itunes library to any folder. and back your contacts and notes to icloud before we begin the restore mode. we are going to DFU mode(Device Firmware Upgrade)

1. turnoff the phone

2. connect the phone with your itunes to your computer.

3. press and hold the power key as well as the home key untill you see the apple symbol in phone.

4. then release the power button and hold the home button untill it shows "an iphone with recovery mode is

found". then release the home button too.

5. now the phone will be in DFU mode that means it is going to upgrade your firmware and remember to take backup your data if you can. else restoring will erase all the data in it.

6. press the check or update button when itunes asked for it then itunes will download and install the software from apple server and restore it into the iphone. so yours will be a new iphone.

7. untill then sit back and enjoy.😝

8. any doubts mail me

9. ios7 is a straight shooter , youre gonna love it.😉

You're not getting it @musthak, I had the same problem. IT WON'T BACK UP.... AT ALL. Not even manually. I tried everything including going to different forums. I had to do a hard reset and restore. LOST EVERYTHING. Oh well.... lesson learned. I back up my phone weekly now and I use iCloud to back up important things like my contacts only. Good luck @beewings !

Hi I had the exact same problem for 10 months. I tried everything in every forum nothing worked. The answer for me was dumb luck, I needed a new ringtone and I didn't want to change my settings for music and tones. I downloaded a new program for windows, Iphone, Ipod its called Iclover and it is free. I made a new ringtone and it automatically installed it to my device with one button. I do not know why but after I installed the ringtone my iphone started to backup. I downloaded it from Cnet.

Gents:

I am having a very similar issue with my iPhone 6 Plus. Yesterday I backed up my iPhone on iTunes because I got a new one today. However, I have not been able to restore the backup. I have tried countless times to no avail - I am super frustrated, as I'm afraid I have lost everything I had on my old phone (photos, messages, etc.). I have been getting two types of errors. Sometime iTunes gives me the "0xE8000065" error and sometimes it says "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "iPhone name" because the iPhone disconnected". I'm using the same cable I used to restore, I have used the rear USB ports, I have uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes, I ran an update for my windows 10. I also tried to select a different old backup and the problem persists. I have read on here that deleting all the backups may solve the issue, but then how am I going to restore the iPhone if I delete the backup (s)? Any life savers?

Thanks,
