Trouble installing Snow Leopard

So I'm trying to upgrade from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard but after 10/15 minutes it says the update will continue after your computer reboots. After it reboots, it's still 10.5.8 and doesn't continue installing. Can anyone help?

I've got plenty of free space and I'm on 2GB RAM.

Thanks

This is an Intel Mac right? Check for Processor in  About this Mac.

We have to check formatting and partitioning. First, select the Volume, the indented listing. Should be Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Next, select the Drive, the topmost listing, go to the Partition tab. Should be GUID Partition Table

After hours of similar problem this is how I got my SNOW Leopard installed..

The Disk I was using was bought from Apple as an update disk. I used it awhile ago to install on my old macmini...

So this morning I created new USB boot stick.

The first thing I did was make a DMG of the DVD.

Then in Disk Utilities I did a "Scan image for restore

The first time an error came up and my Drive Genius 3 opened and scanned the file. It reported NO errors.

I then then did a "Scan Image for restore" this time it was successful.

I the then used this file as the source file when making the USB boot stick.

I did all of this on my old mini

as soon as I put the USB in the iMAC it open to 10.6. Open the installer file and all is working.

All OS software is up to date. Loading iLife11 now

good idea - and also the activity monitor screenshot shows user processes from rapport & intego, never mind system ones.

Thanks Andy, I was blind to those two. I bet that's it.They should both certainly be uninstalled. Might be causing all the trouble installing Snow, especially the Intego. Must get full uninstall directions from Intego.
