I have problem with seller.
My son poured milk on my Mac and when I went to apple branch in Spokane maintenance they told me i must paid $ 750. I told them that I have comprehensive ensure a and they told me it did not include the fluid and breakage. on the other hand When i bought it from apple in Seattle, the seller told me that the warranty covers everything except theft. Seller deceived me. I want to make a complaint against him. and i would like to fix my Mac.
I am under the impression the the original poster just has the standard warranty, whereas AppleCare+ is an extended warranty for the iPad and iPhone that must be purchased. Most electronic devices come with a limited warranty, of which I beleive Mike was referring to, as opposed to an extended warranty.
Your 'impression' may be correct, but his statement didn't indicate that. It was in the form of a blanket statement concerning any electronic device manufacturer and any electronic device and 'this type of damage'. Nowhere in his post did he say his statement was limited to the 'out of the box' warranty.
I simply pointed out a case concerning another Apple product wherein his statement was in error because a 'warranty', AppleCare+, is available for an electronic device (iPad) from a manufacturer (Apple) that does cover accidental damage of this type.
Edited to add: The cost of the 'out of the box' warranty is not zero, it is included in the cost of purchase. TANSTAAFL.

Not a problem for me, although I do have an iPad with this coverage (several, in fact) I've never had to use it.
However, I've also had warranties on all of the Dell and HP laptops I've ever purchased and I have used it there. The HP's in particular had a penchant for 'breaking' in a way that wasn't covered under the 'out of the box' warranty. Of couse, that was several years ago--I haven't owned a commercial Windows machine for 6 years--things may have changed in the Dell/HP world.
I guess someone should ask if your son is ok?
