My wife's new MBP (mid 2012) keeps dropping the wireless network. I get a message saying that another device is using the same IP address. So, how does one change the IP address?

You don't change the ip address. You go into network settings on all your networked devices and make sure they all get their ip address using DHCP. Or, if you net a device to have a static ip address, make sure the staic ip address is outside the DHCP scope. Or, make sure your router is secure and that a neighbor is not using a static ip address while connected to your router.
Ok are you now saying that the SSID, the name of your WiFi connection, isn't even showing up on your wifes MBP?
Just for Ya Ha's Reboot the computer. And Reboot the router, unplug it from the AC and then plug it back in a few second later.
Yes, it doesn't show up in her MBP or my MB. But it shows up on my iBook and my iPhones. Did the boot up and disconnecting everything with time gaps in between all of today with no wireless network.
Sorry but I have no more suggestions. I know you said 2 Weeks ago it worked but now it isn't.
Is there any other people arpond you that have WiFi networks? Do any of them show up on your wifes MBP? If not then I suspect it is a problem with the computer. Not sure what your MB problem may be.
It has worked off and on since it was bought. It worked last night before I went to sleep. But not all of today, for whatever reasons. Sure, there are other people around that have wireless networks. Here's an attachment ...

Then it is a problem with that Mac. If you take it in and it works at the Apple store ask them if they are using 2.4 Ghz or 5Ghz WiFi. If they even know I bet they are using 5GHz and or your system is connection to 5GHz.
Let me ask are you also using Bluetooth on that new MBP? If you are try turning that off and see what happens.
No, neither of us are using bluetooth. Its probably the 5GHz connectivity issue. I'm presuming that the old Airport Express cannot connect at 5 GHz (which explains how come the old iBook has no problem). And that the new MBP is set to a default of 5 GHz. Whatever it is, and I hope this is the issue, what on earth has this to do with the IP address issue?
BUT, BUT it should connect to the 2.4 band as well. It should work on both without problems.
Look and see if Bluetooth is on. If it is try turning it off.
Well, it SHOULD work on both but for some reason it isn't. I've just turned Bluetooth on and then off. Just for the heck of it, I'll power down and return in a while ...
Nope, no luck! There is STILL no wireless network from both the MB and the MBP. No problems with the iPhones and my old iBook. I'll sleep on this. Thanks for being with me. Will update you on what happens tomorrow.

Are you saying you have two routers in your network? If so you must turn off NAT addressing, DHCP on one of them.
No, I dont have 2 devices. Just the router, and the Airport Express connected to it. Everything used to connect via the AE but now the MB and the new MBP just refuse to even see the network. Even iStumbler cant see it which is strange because the old iBook and the iPhones are running off it. I have changed the router (have 3 right now including the old Siemens Speedstream), so I guess it has to be the AE. Will connect either directly to the wireless router or get another AE base station and see if that works.
So the Router you have is not a WiFi router? Please post the make and model of the router.
The router is a WiFi model that we recently got from the operator. Its a TeleWell TW-EA510v3(c)&3G/4G. I've now setup the WiFi directly to the TeleWell router for both the MB and the MBP. Its a closed network. It works. Strangely enough, the Apple Network from AE is also working, connected to the same router and wirelessly to my old iBook G4. That too now works. The main reason I got AE before was the ease of use in setting it up for my wife when I'm not at home ( travel frequently).
