how do i turn sync to computer for contacts back on?

With iOS 6.0.1, how do I re-enable syncing contacts and calendar with my computer? iTunes indicates that it is set for syncing with iCloud, but I turned off syncing with iCloud and it still does not show me the option to select contacts and calendars to be synced with my computer. I don't want that info to be synced with iCloud. But, when I go to delete the iCloud account, it indicates that "all documents stored in iCloud will be deleted from this iPhone". It is my info, I don't want it deleted. I just want to stop using iCloud for back up or minimally enable backup to both iCloud and my computer.

Any words of wisdom? Much appreciated.
