A client of mine had a local new station do a little feature about them. I was given the Video TS files and asked to put it up to their website. But I need to remove the background music because of copyright issue. I tried to contact the news station but they weren't any help. Is there any software that can help me seperate the voice over from the background music.
If the audio files are mixed- that is VO and Music all in one file- then there is no way to "extract" the VO. As far as the file is concerned, there is no difference between the VO information and the music infomation. All one thing.
I hope I understand correctly that that's what you are hoping to do. And if so, then sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You need to get the original VO file before the music was added...if you can sweet-talk the news station.
That's what I'd do. Who needs those local news guy VOs anyway? 🙂
But if you like his or her voice, get them to come in and revoice the track! I used to work in local news - believe me, those reporters can always do with a few more bucks! They'll probably do it for a few beers.
thanks guys - yea - it's one sound file - I tried to sweet talk the news lady - no luck - the beer idea is a good one - problem is she's a thousand miles away in New Hampshire - maybe I'll just drink the beers myself until i don't care anymore
ok - i'm officially an idiot - i was just messing with the video again - but this time I was listening to it with my earphones and realized that the VO track and the music were on different channels - just remove the left channel and we are golden
Still think the beer idea is one of the best solutions seen on these boards in a while (even if I came up with it myself :-p).
Glad it worked out. Don't feel like an idiot, we've all done that. In fact you should be feeling good that you worked out the solution by paying attention and experimenting with your media.
