We can only mirror our Mac with through AirPlay onto Apple TV if the Macbook Pro is a 2011 version or earlier. My macBook Pro is a mid-2009.
Has anyone found a way to get around this limitation? I don't want to have to buy a new Mac! Thank you.

Thank you for the quick response. One more question: I'm trying it out but when I try playing a movie, the audio works but the movie image comes out in squares. Is that because I'm trying it for free and will only see the image if I purchase the app? I want to make sure it works properly before I buy the app.

You may wish to get other opinions before deciding, but fwiw I wouldn't buy it.
I've never used it or any Airplay mirroring or third-party products like Air Parrot, so I can't answer that question. Probably their tech support can let you know if that's just a "protection" device for the trial.
If you are trying to mirror a movie via the DVD player app then that is normal. You would have to try using something like VLC
Yes I think you are probably right, I was thinking the OP was referring to pixelation of the mirrored image which is often the case with air parrot, but since you mention it, it may well be the chequerboard pattern when DVD playback is blocked.

I suspect the OP is long gone as this was posted a year ago. Best to use the trial for Airparrot to see if it works for you
