Storage of only 64GB for the iPad?
Why is the maximal storage of an iPad only 64GB? This is easily used up by pictures and videos! The iPod has 160GB, so technically it should be easy to offer much larger storage for the iPad?

all the other tablets offer almost the same amount of space on their device. it depends on you how you use it. do not sync the apps, photos, songs, movies that you dont use or watch!
The iPad and the iPod classic storage are different. The iPad uses flash storage and the iPod classic uses a hard disk, so they are different because it's more difficult and expensive to install more memory on the iPad
Of course I want to have all my pictures on my iPad! That is the nice thing to browse the picture and video collection!
Give me a break! The iPad mini also offers 64GB! So the large iPad has certainly space to at least double the storage!
flash storage is small in size and uses less power as compaired to HDD but at the same time they are expensive too. making an ipad of 128GB storage is possible but will turn out to be expensive
It isn't about available space. Flash chips are quite small. Most of the space inside the iPad is devoted to the battery to run that big screen. Price is the main limitation on how much storage Apple offer. To put more storage in would raise the price above what Apple consider appropriate.
The storage was well advertised before you bought it. Live with it.
Windows tablets offer 128 GB, so for apple to stay ahead of the competition, constant innovation and improvement of products are required! And this includes more storage!
yeah, we all can see the tough competition b/w surface tab and iPad!
You can store your documents, pictures, music and videos in Dropbox, Box.net, Sugarsync etc.
A fast internet will be an advantage.
Head out to a site like Best Buy and price a solid state 128 or 320 gig hard drive. THat'll give you some idea how come internal memory is so pricey. Solid state drives are the same basic principal to what's inside an iPad. Then consider that APple's idea is that they provide and there are also great services for people to access content that's been stored 'on the cloud', so if there's a service out there that lets you redownload music 'forever' why is there a need to store it locally? Same with online photo storage and the like.
Whether you, the general you, agrees or not is immaterial. Your choice is to acknowledge the company's idea and stance when you use the device or find another device to use.
(Along the same line, some drivers may find it more efficient and convenient to have a car with a 50 gallon gas tank so they don't have to stop so often, but the auto industry seems to feel that the average sedan needs less than 20 gallons of fuel, so that's how they are made.)
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
