Hi there, I just bought an Ipad 2 from a friend and it came with the A1300 (5W) adapter. From what I saw here that is adequate for Iphones and the Ipad mini. Is it harmfull to the other Ipads or will it just take longer to charge? Thanks!

It's not harmful but it will take longer to charge. You can purchase the 12W charger from Apple. See http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD836LL/A/apple-12w-usb-power-adapter?fnode=3c

Your friend gave you the wrong power adapter. It will not harm the iPad, but will not charge it in a timely manner. You need the 10W power adapter for the iPad 2.

It's not harmful per se. But yes, it will charge very slowly, as in take you all night and still not be fully charged. You'd probably be best served to go out and buy the appropriate adapter.
