iTunes can't see external writer

Hello everyone..

I have a Mac mini with a broken CD/DVD writer. So I use an external one - but iTunes doesn't see it and tells me to insert a CD [when I already have] so that I can burn a music CD from an mp3 file.

I guess it's internal wiring isn't set up to do it this way...

I downloaded a prog called MediaHuman Audio Converter, as it said it could do the job.

But when I set it up it doesn't seem to have a format for CD audio format [unless it's one of these: AAC, AC-3, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, OGG, WAV, WMA].

Is there anyone smarter than me out there [not hard....] who can assist please??

Thanks

John
