dvd player not working

Hi - my DVD player is not working when I insert a movie DVD. I can hear the DVD processing sound. But, the DVD is ejected. I used different DVDs, same result. I have Mac-mini OS X version 10.6.8. and DVD Player App Version: 5.4. Thanks.

Have you tried cleanung the drive with one of the cleaning CDs?

Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.

Was the last DVD that worked maybe a protected Sony DVD?
