Quicken

I'm switching from Windows.
What functionality will I use if I use Quicken for MAC?

Can the backup file from Quicken Win just be loaded to Quicken MAC?

Quicken for the Mac has worked really well for me for years and years now. I regularly upgrade to the latest version, but am still running version 2006 since 2007 isn't Intel native yet and I will want to upgrade next year when it likely does become a Universal app. I have it installed on both a new 24" iMac (using Rosetta) and a G4 Mac Book and it works fine on both machines. Quicken isn't exactly slow even in Rosetta on my iMac. It feels just as snappy on my iMac as it did on my dual 1.25 Gz G4 tower (and snappier than it does on my wife's G4 iBook).

I'm thinking if you already own Quicken 2007 for the PC you might consider paying $100 for an XP install disc and another $50-$75 for Paralells since you would usually like to have all your other Mac apps available when you are in Quicken. Running in a window would have huge advantages over having to fully reboot in order to do your banking. I have not seen if CrossOver supports Quicken. It very well might and there is a free beta available to see for yourself. That would save you the cost of installing XP on your Mac.

Thanks for the response. I have finally taken the plunge and bought myself a MacBook Pro, still haven't made the decision of what to do re Quicken (I continue to run Quicken on my desktop PC). Looking forward to playing around with my Mac over the holidays when I get some time off from work. It's great to be back (had moved to Windows in 2000).

Congrats on the plunge! You have definitely, no...make that DEFINITELY!, made the right decision! First of all, Mac OS X Tiger is awesome, and indeed Leopard is gonna be even better! Also, the new MacBook Pro's with the Intel Core Duo processor are a blessing and delight! Quite the opposite of Windows and the Windows machines which are a curse and nightmare! I am so amazed at the simplicity but power and sophistication of my Mac! And I am so sad that I waited all the years to switch! RE Quicken 2007 for Mac, it continues to work flawlessly on my Mac, so don't hesitate to give it a try. I have actually come to rather enjoy working with Quicken. Enjoy and keep us up on how your doing with the new MacBook Pro!

God Bless!

Has anyone had any success backing up Quicken 2007 for the Mac to CDs?

I prefer backing up to CDs as opposed to using the online backup option.

Unfortunatley, I must joint the camp in these discussions which prefer the Windows version of Quicken.

I tried using the Mac Disk Uitlity program which I found very unMac like, not very intuitive and the instructions on the help pages for it did not match the dialogue boxes I came upon when I tried to follow the instructions.

I'm now using the software Toast to copy my backup Quicken files to a CD-R disk, but when I try to open the Quicken file from the Toast created CD-R, I get a dialoque box that says I can't open the file, but then Quicken 2007 opens anyway. (as an ex-Windows user, this sound very familiar).

Does anyone have any advise on how to backup Quicken 2007 data files to a CD or any opinions on the best way to backup on the Mac. Thanks and Happy Holidays
