Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Have just purchased an Apple TV 3 and set it up wanting to mirror my Ipad 3. I tried to find the Airplay icon by doubleclicking on the Home button but it wasn't there. I also can't find it when playing video for example.
Both devices have latest S/W and are on the same Wireless Network.
Anyone expierienced this?

You are not talking to apple support here. This is a user group forum where people volunteer thief time to help others. If the suggestions you find here are not working then you should take your device to an apple store or call the apple support number for your area.
It sounds like there is a problem with either the WiFi chip or antenna on your device which is dropping the WiFi connection. I would have it looked at.
I had the same problem. I locked my Ipad then pressed on the lock button again and pressed the home button twice, while the Ipad still was locked. The airplay icon appeared. Dosen't work when my Ipad is unlocked.
I have just had this problem.
I rebooted everything then found from another thread that if you change your language in the settings (to something you can hopefully comprehend) then back to english the icon came back on the double tap swipe left and airplay was enabled.
I mean I rebooted and resetted evreything, bloody passwords and all.
AAARRGGHH.
Annoyed.
