Trouble reinstalling 10.5 on Macbook

Hi all,

I have a 2009 13" Macbook. The hard drive got fried a few weeks ago and I ordered a new one to replace it.

I have the grey install DVD that came new with the computer. I booted from the DVD and I get the error that "mac os x cannot be installed on this computer."

I tried a GUID partition, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

More or less. Repartition the drive using the MBR scheme instead of GUID. Format the entire drive using FAT. Then do it all over but change the partition scheme to GUID and format it FAT. Then reformat using OS Extended, Journaled. A lot of rigamarole, but it just may work. NTFS formatted drives can be a PITA to convert, sometimes.
