iPad mini won't connect to home share

I'm an Apple newby. Less than a week. I have iTunes installed on my PC, authorized for Home Share. My iPad mini won't connect to iTunes via home share. Of course I'm using my Apple id.

Any suggestions?

iPad, iOS 6.0.2

It appears then that your connection is being interferd with. Temporaly disabe any security software or firewalls on computer. Reset the router to default settings and reboot. Also try setting up another user account on the computer and set up home share again to test. If you have another computer in the house, try setting up with that.

If any of these sugesstions are helpful, it may help isolate the cause of the issue.

percent of home sharing problems come from the router. To verify that I am correct - bring home another apple device and you can try another computer as well. Once you believe me, just look back at wi fi troubleshooting, or if you are not ready to do that, get yourself a new router. They go for 15 dollars online with home delivery, and when you buy a new one, you get free support for a few months that would normally cost you. If support will assist you and sets your router up correctly, you are golden and home sharing works.

Hi Gavin - I have the very same problem ans just about to give up on iTunes forever due to this and other unreliability issues. The other posts are not correct as if I use the "Remote" app to control the very same library with the same router, router settings, wifi etc etc that works fine (except the iPad "Remote" search tool also has a fault in that it cannot resolve an artist search correctly under many circumstances). Also this problem has only come about since the so-called upgrade to Version 11 and iOS 6.1.2 - all in all Apple are getting it wrong. This IS NOT A ROUTER issue tecchie people !!!

Thanks for that Dean, but as I said, I've just given up. This is my first Apple product having always been a Windows user. I was persuaded by Apple fans that Macs 'just work'. As much as I love my iPad Mini, it's clear that Apple isn't perfect, things don't always 'just work. But as an MS user, I'm used to just going so far and then moving on ;-)

I appreciate the suggestion, but by Win7 laptop works perfectly; I can't be arsed to mess around with IPv6.

Best regards.

I am having the same problem with my iPad mini. It starts the syncing process and never connects to the downloading icon. I have all the current versions of iOS 6.1.3 on the iPad mini and the latest version of iTunes. As I write this I am listening to the Eagles on my iPhone 4S using Home Sharing. I have tried resetting the router, signing out and back in Home Sharing. I have turned off Home Sharing on my iPhone 4S. I have restarted the iPad mini and even did a hard/cold restart and did a complete reset to no avail. I have also used home sharing on my wife's iPad 4 and her iPhone 4. Note- Due to Time Warner's limitations in our area, IPv6 is turned off. If it is on, our Internet goes out intermittently several times a day. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Alrighty, I got it to work. I had to also turn on Home Sharing on Itunes via the file menu.

hope this helps someone.

In Itunes, press ALT to get your proper File Menu to show up --> Home Sharing --> Turn on. Enter account details. Ipad mini picked up on this immediately. I didn't need to restart the Music app or anything.
