"The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination". This message pops up when trying to mail photos from iPhoto. How do I fix it?

I solved the same problem by generating an App-specific password. If you have two-step verification on this is the way to go. You can do this in Manage Apple ID.

Thanks. This solved my problem. After I re-entered passwords in iPhoto, I realized I had changed email passwords earlier and forgot to notify iPhoto.

I had the same issue with iPhoto and gmail. I just update the password in iPhoto > accounts. Your post did help me revdlee. Thanks. 🙂

I had same issue Changed password on iCloud account which in turn affected iPhoto which interfaces but was not updated in the process. Thank you for the help!!

I'm on 10.9.5 and can't get iPhoto to recognize my email/password combo. I know it's the correct password. This is with Gmail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've hever had this problem before. But I have it now and it's REALLY REALLY frustrating.

I got this too. When I went into my gmail inbox however, I found an email from Google saying there had been a request from a 'less-secure app'. I just clicked on the button 'Allow Access', clicked yes to trust the 'less-secure apps' and the I was able to send from iPhoto.

I found a simple solution.

Go to iphoto -> Preferences

Choose the General tab and set "email photos using" to "Mail" instead of "iphoto".
