If the video is in your photo app, you can just attach it to an email.
In the mail app, create a new message, in the body, double tap to get the Select/Paste selection tab, and press the right point arrow. you will get the option to "insert Photo or Video" which will take you to your photo's, select the video and it will be inserted as an attachment.
Of course, your mail provider's file/attachment size limits will apply, so if the video is too large, it won't get sent.
The problem is that the files are too big to send normally and I do have dropbox but do the people receiving it need to have dropbox too? Is there another way to send the files?
Yes, both need some sort of file sharing service, i.e. dropbox.
You can't do it via email... video files are often too large, as you've found out.

the recipient does not need drop box. you can upload it to your dropbox public folder and then just send the web address for the file.

Thanks I have the folder and use Dropbox to store my photos and files. I do not know how to use it for sending the video files off of my phone however
Tap Dropbox. Tap the Photo icon. The images in the camera roll will be uploaded to the Dropbox photos folder.
I have no idea what you are referring to as to the Photo icon. I have the various videos on my iphone. How do I get them to Dropbox? Do I sync with Iphoto and send to dropbox from there?
Launch the Dropbox app.
Tap the 2nd icon from the left (it's an icon of a photo).
You will be prompted to allow Dropbox to access your photos.
Dropbox will copy the contents of your camera roll to your Dropbox Camera Uploads folder.

I just began a project that I need to do fast and furious this week. I am asking a number of novice folks to video a birthday message for my husband's 70th bday on Fri. If they figure out how to video what is the easiest way for them to get the video to me. I think that with some of them (maybe most) downloading dropbox app may be too much.
