Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I'm trying to capture from a Sony HDR-HC1. Can someone give me some setting details. I can get it to connect, but it will not download. I'm using FCP 6. I've never captured HD before, so I'm sure there are settings that I need to change, but I'm at the end of my rope on what to change next. Can anyone help?

Selecting if the iLink conversion is on or off is done on the camera, using the camera menus. You can find more info on page 59 of your camera manual. Disconnect the camera from the computer before making this change (if the change is needed).

Just what I attempted... but while I got the camera image to display on my computer screen, Final Cut crashed as soon as I hit the Log Clip button, but I will make one more attempt before I am ready to give up.
Yup, FC crashed the second time too.
However, it does work when I hit "Capture Now". All I need now is to figure out how to rename the files that appear in my bin.
Now how do I give someone an orange star?
you can't figure out how to rename clips? Click on the name field.... or select the clip and hit command-9 and change the name field. If you want to change the file name to match the clip name, select the clip (or clips) control click on it (or them) and choose rename - file to match clip.
Actually, I figured it out just now. Was too excited about the Capture Now working to really think about it until I actually made the attempt. Thanks anyway, Mike.
