Keyboard broken need to get into computer

Hi,

I have a Mac book pro OS X Lion 10.7. I also live in Rwanda and do not have access to a genius bar and can't call apple or buy a new keyboard. Yesterday my keyboard broke. Some of the keys still work, and the mouse works fine but I cannot log into my computer because I have it passworded. I really need to get into my computer to do my job. Is there anyway I can still get into it using the mouse only. Also command R does not work either because the R button on the keyboard doesn't work.

When you say that you can't buy a new keyboard, do you mean that you can't replace the keyboard on your MBP, or that you can't buy a standard USB keyboard to take the place of your internal keyboard?

Just any standard USB keyboard should work...

Yeah I live in a village where you can't even get cars to come to. So I could buy a keyboard online but realistically that isn't going to get to my post office for another month. And I can't go to the capital to buy another keyboard for a week or two.

I want to be able to get some files off the computer, so I can continue to work. Also I have a bunch of movies and tv shows on my comp that if I could just log in and click on them they would play and work. Living in a village is boring and at night it helps to have this. So I have a logitech mouse that works great and I just want to be able to log in and use my comp with the mouse only.

You could enable "Show Keyboard & Character Viewers in Menu Bar":

And then select "Show Keyboard Viewer" from the menu and click to 'type'

...works in TextEdit but I'm not sure how it would work system-wide.

This is great but I passworded my computer a long time ago, and I need to get into it. When I turn it on my name comes up with the password box and I can't get into anything because I can't type the password. How can I counter act this with a mouse?
