Seeking new Mac Mini monitor advice
I'm about to purchase a new Mac Mini i5. Any advice on an alternative monitor to the Apple 27 inch Thunderbolt monitor? I'm replacing an old 2006 24" iMac. Mahalo!

Hi Kurt -
I just purchase the same model (Samsung S24B240). I am using it with a macmini 3,1. Were you able to get 1920 x 1080 configured on the monitor? My intention was to use 2 monitors, DVI & VGA.
thanks
Hi, everybody.
I just bought a 2012 mac mini.
I have a Dell 30" 2560 x 1600 monitor. Works fine at that resolution with display port daisy chained through a WD thunderbolt Ext drive. HDMI gave 1920 x 1200 no problem.
However, using the Apple Dua link DVI occasionally gave a greyed out screen + it takes a usb port to power the dual link adapter.
Dell has 2 HDMI, 1 Display port, 2 DVI [one dual link] component.
Never had any problems with it. It also runs a Sony Vaio at 1920 x 1200 flawlessly.
regards,
Scorpii
Just remember if not using an apple TB monitor that you will be giving up the camera, mike, speakers and cable hub on the back if these things are important to you.
I am considering buying a mac mini i7 1 tb hard drive and 4gb ram. I have at home an LG Tv that also backs up as a monitor it's the LG M2262DP 22inch. I just wondered if anyone had used the LG monitors before with the mac mini?
fI you use your computer much a TV is not good choice. You will find it hard on the eyes. You can find PC monitors at a good price if cost is an issue. I have an LG 22" and I do like it as a computer monitor.
The Mac Mini supports 2650x1600 resolution so the best monitor is one that supports that. 1080 isn't that great for a computer monitor so HDMI should never be considered. I use a Dell Ultra Sharp U2412M LED Monitor and love it!
Many issue with monitors are because they forget to adjust the monitor itself not just the mini's display and color options.
What has been an issue in past was the way it detects some monitors.
I have an AOC I2757FH for my Macbook Pro (earlier 2010). It looks beautiful and makes my work a lot easier. BUT - it intermittently fails to detect the signal from the MBP! (i.e., it's useless!). And, yes, I've confirmed that the cables all work and are connected and that the MBP works on a different monitor; and the monitor works reliably with a Window 7 laptop.
The other weird thing is that the physical 'Hotkeys" on the front of the panel don't give the menu options (just the HDMI1, 2 and D-sub options).
I've had our techies on to it but they're stumped too. I've tried PRAM reset and various combinations of turning things on/off, dis/reconnecting cables. Nada.
The only thing that does work is if I plug the W7 laptop in (which works without a hitch) and then plug the MBP in (v annoying) or -- as I am now -- use good old VGA!
