40GB stuck in the trash..

Hi all,

I have 40GB stuck in the trash ..I get:

'The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)'

if I try to move them to the desktop they start to make a duplicate of themselves!

I had a similar 'error occurred' message earlier when I tried to copy these file to my WD 2tb ext drive?

Not sure if this is relevant but in the last week I had the Genius bar replace my Segate HD (recalled) ..so I have a fresh Snow Leopard OS

Don't have a very good answer for this. Might try an external optical drive or if you have another Mac, "borrow" its optical drive by connecting the two Macs in Target Disk Mode.

If none of those is possible, bring it in to an Apple Store and see if they'll do it for you.

Good suggestions WZZZ (just realised your in NYC.. thought you was just up the road from me in London!!)

A friend of mine has an external DVD writer will that be alright to boot from?

If so is it a simple case of hold down 'C' on restart?

Well, if it reads DVDs, yes. C on restart. Used to live just down the road from you in London, if you are anywhere in the vicinity of Highgate or Kentish Town. But that was many years ago.

Managed to boot from an external drive.. and reset the ACLs as suggested in the link - restarted and everything is back to normal 🙂 ...pheeeeeeeeeew!

btw: I originate from just up the road.. Highbury (Arsenal) small world.
