Help?? Can't get iPod Touch to play in my 2013 Nissan Sentra

I have a 16GB iPod Touch, model MB531LL, and I cannot get it to play in my new 2013 Nissan Sentra. All of the iPod Touch contents show up on the dashboard display, but no sound comes through the stereo. When I plug my iPhone into the car it plays (although strange things happen sometimes, like podcasts initially playing at double chipmunk-sounding speed), but not the iPod Touch. Has anybody experienced a similar situation & found a way to fix it?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Does Nisson say it will work with your mode iPod and iOS (Google shows you have a 2G iPod)

What model iPhone and iOS did yo also try?

Sometimes this works

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Thanks for the response. The car manual does say that this iPod Touch should work with the system. It says "2nd & 3rd generation iPod Touch (Firmware version 3.1.2 or later)". When I previously looked at the manual, I thought I had a 1st generation iPod Touch, which the manual says is compatible with the car using "Firmware version 2.1.0 or later". When I looked at the Settings on my iPod Touch, it shows version 2.2.1, which I thought was what I needed. But now, thanks to you, I am seeing that I have a 2G device, not the 1G device I thought I had. However, now I have a new question.....I updated the device 2 nights ago, which I assume should have given me the 3.1.2 or later that I need according to the manual, but now that I look at the Settings again, it says that I still have version 2.2.1. Why would it not be a later version now that I updated it? Something's not right here. It's frustrating!!

To update

Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes

iTunes 10 for Windows: Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad

A 1G iPod can go to iOS 2.2 via iTunes and iOS 3.1.3 via

Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)

A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. That requires a Mac with OSX 10.5.8 or later. With 1OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1
