Can't seem to find the answer to this. It appears that I can still use the clips that have this red line through them but I found it odd that this line appeared all of a sudden.

It means it's a "rejected clip." (Or a portion of a clip.) Select the clip then toggle the red x to get it back to one marked as one you WANT to use. You hit the delete / backspace button on accident. No biggee. FCPX is non-destructive. You didn't erase or delete anything.

Rather, right-click the red-X in the event browser and select "unmark."
