help!

I am getting the spinning beach ball very shortly after working with any application. Left long enough it resolves, but begins again shortly. Had a recent crash which Apple helped me with over the phone. Any ideas?

So what I did is go to 'Hardware Test' in disc 2 of the installl DVD's (it shipped with 10.6.3 and has been updated several times and now has 10.8.2 running). I selected to check the box that indicated the most thorough test. It ran for several hours and still had much more to go so I let it run all night. In the morning the process was complete with a "No Problems Found" message.
Any other ideas at all? I do very much appreciate your effort here Linc.

The AHT is unreliable and misses many faults. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested more thoroughly.

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
