You can't connect your computer to a TV with a Thunderbolt port because there aren't any TVs with this port. Instead, depending of the ports that your TV has and the Mac you have, you have to use a HDMI cable with an adapter (or without, if you have a MacBook Pro with Retina display) or any adapter. Just look at your TV for ports and tell us what ports it has got, so we can know what cable you must use to connect your computer to that TV

Your MBP has no Thunderbolt capabilities. Refer to my response regarding your early 2008 MBP. You will have to tap into the DVI port for video and the audio output port for sound.

You will need the appropriate cable. See this as an example. If your TV has a HDMI input, such a cable would provide video (only).
